SmartSuite Software is a web based application with an open source structure. It employs PHP as the core technology behind its development. To power its database needs, it uses one of the world’s most popular database management system, MySQL. MySQL is a popular choice of database for use in web applications, and is a central component of the widely used LAMP web application software stack— LAMP is an acronym for “Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python”.
Now, apart from the support for MySql databases, we also provide support for other databases like those in Oracle and MSSQL. Very recently, we had an inquiry from someone asking for the software but with the database backened in Oracle. SmartSuite Software does have everything what people seek to see in a typical attendance software. We have been making sure that it turns out to be the best online attendance management system or say, human resource management system for your organization. Having been equipped with all necessary HR modules, smartsuite is most likely to fulfill your needs for a robust online attendance management system. But inspite of being feature rich, smartsuite isn’t free from limitation.
The biggest limitation which this software has is the absence of payroll management system. Yes..we don’t have it yet. An integrated payroll management system in the smartsuite software, is what people have been inquiring to us in recent times. We have been saying “NO” to most of them while there have been few cases where we have been finding alternative for the same. This is mostly because we have felt that organizations do really need it. As an alternative to a typical payroll module in the attendance software, we have been requesting our clients to go for an integration with their existing payroll application which they must be using or have any plan to purchase in the near future.
The integration enables any desktop/web based payroll applications to be easily integrated with our smartsuite software which then can be used to generate payroll for the employees on the basis of attendance records. We have been offering such solutions to our clients in recent times and most of the times they have agreed to go for the same and the best of all, it has really worked out well. Most of the third party payroll applications have been integrated with our attendance software.
So for those who seem to be worried about the payroll and related requirements, you must be glad to know that we now have been able to solve this problem and no longer, it is compulsory to have an integrated payroll module in the attendance software. Though still we have decided to come up with the same in the near future. Future releases of smartsuite software is likely to have an integrated payroll system. We are working on it and hopefully, we shall have it very soon in our attendance software.
Yes…SmartSuite Software is supported to run on Linux Operating System. We have been receiving queries on the same from some people who have doubted smartsuite software compatibility with the linux operating system. The very first thing you must know is that SmartSuite Software is an open source application. Being an open source application, it is supported to run on any operating system, at present runs well on both windows and linux operating system.
The installation of smartsuite software on Linux is very similar to what we perform on Windows based operating system. The only difference lies with the file system where unlike windows there is no executable file as such. So, instead of clicking on the setup and moving ahead with the installation, you have to manually place all required installation files in the www directory of linux operating system. The default location for www directory is –
Incase if you are unable to locate the same, you can type in the required command in the linux console to find the same. The default command for the same is -
Using ‘locate’ command, you can make a quick search for any directory which is located under Linux OS. The locate command is often the simplest and quickest way to find the locations of files and directories on Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.
The basic syntax for locate is:
locate [options] name(s)
When used without any options, locate displays every absolute pathname for which the user has access permission that contains any of the names of files and/or directories that are provided to it as arguments (i.e., input data).
Once you have copied your smartsuite installation files and folders to the WWW directory of your Linux OS, you can then follow the same installation steps as being carried out while installing the smartsuite software on Windows OS. Type in the following in your linux browser address bar –
and then move on till your installation gets completed.
You can follow smartsuite installation instructions from the pdf manual which is supplied with smartsuite installation package. Also, please make sure you are connected to the internet before installing the software. You may face problems while installing ioncube on your linux server and so here is a manual to do the same without any issue -
Once you have followed all of the above instructions and the instructions in the manual correctly, you should be able to install smartsuite software on your system easily without any problem..!

No doubt, security is the single biggest concern with any payroll system. Say for example if you are using any payroll software, do you password protect it to restrict access? A payroll software is a standalone application or a system integrated with any HRMS application where payroll calculations are carried out. A typical payroll software takes little input from the employer, just employee wage information and hours and eventually comes up with required calculations and withholdings. The calculations are updated with the change in time tax laws. A Payroll software can also fill employee’s tax forms and set a reminder for them to file the same at anytime later. Using a payroll software, one can also make all necessary deductions from the paycheck as required. In a payroll software, you also need to personally enter all pertinent information. The same is required with employee tax forms which is invalid without employer’s signature. Anyways in comparison to outsourced payroll services, a payroll software is a huge time-saver as it enables in easier handling of complicated withholdings and constantly changing tax laws. The best advantage of course is to have your payroll data at one place.
Payroll Services or Payroll Software – it is never easy to decide over the same but as per our observations, Payroll Software is a better alternative for companies having an employee strength between 10-50. Nowadays, Payroll software are becoming web based and so it is much more easier to manage payroll process from any web enabled computer. A web based attendance software like SmartSuite Software is a feature packed attendance software offering several modules like Organization chart, Detailed Employee records management, Leaves management, Attendance management, Shift Scheduling along with extensive Reports & Charts. A desktop based attendance software mostly comes with some few basic modules like attendance management, leave management and some basic report management.
So, you can now make out from the points above. There is no reason why you shouldn’t go for a web based attendance software. BioEnable Smartuite Software can be easily integrated with biometric attendance devices like BioAccess v2, BioAccess v2 Plus, NAC2500, NAC5000, etc… The present list of supported hardware is less but we are constantly working upon increasing the support for more devices. On the basis of what we have found, people have been requesting us to enable our software support for more attendance devices. We have been making sure that our software is supported with more and more attendance devices like those from ESSL, Pegasus, etc.. Our software can be integrated with any number of attendance devices provided some prerequisites are met.
If you have any attendance device other than the supported hardware on our site then there is nothing to worry about. Being an open source software, BioEnable SmartSuite Software is independent of the device format. In case if you have any doubts regarding the hardware support, please do let us know by sending us an email. Also, please make sure that you have sent us the database file of your attendance device. The database file is required by us to know whether actually can we provide the integration with your hardware. The database file is analyzed by our technical team and then on the basis of their findings, we are finally in a position to let you know about the integration. Basically we check for the fields and if there is a mismatch in the fields, we then try to make some customizations in our software so as to make sure that we provide the necessary integration finally. Chances are also there where we cannot do much and the integration between software and hardware becomes impossible. Such cases are quite rare anyways.
Currently, Smartsuite Software has a support for databases in MS Access and MSSQL format. There is no support for Oracle at present. So, please make sure you have the databases in the same format which is supported by our software before mailing it to us. We will then do the needful.

Now, you can download and test out the fully functional business version of the BioEnable SmartSuite Software. This business version is available for evaluation purpose only. Unlike the community version, this evaluation comes packed with all features but yes, it has certain user limitations. The Evaluation version of the SmartSuite Software cannot be used for more than 5 users/employees. Once the maximum user limit is reached, any further record cannot be added.
The Evaluation version can be used by individuals, companies or organizations to test out all available features of the SmartSuite Software including the import feature. The import feature allows logs from the supported hardware to be imported to the SmartSuite Software. This can be done either manually or can be automated. The automation gets possible after integration of the available time attendance device with the SmartSuite Software. The integration of the supported hardware with the software is done using a php script and the script currently works with MSQL databases and MS Access databases. There is no support for Oracle at present.
The community version on the other hand, has limited features. Also, there is no option available to import logs into the software. You can still test it out and use it for any number of users. The community version does not come up with any user restriction as such. It is thus a good choice in case you are managing a small company/organization with 20-50 employee/user strength. But anyways, you are still missing the Import Feature, one of the most important and must have feature with this software.
Now, below is a download link for both community version and the evaluation version. You can try out both these versions and then you can finally decide over the purchase of licensed version of SmartSuite Software -
